Chapter 323 Meeting adjourned
Chapter 323 Meeting adjourned
The meeting lasted for about an hour, and the latter part was much less interesting than the former, with several leaders on the stage taking turns to speak.
The UN is talking about recent international developments, such as new progress in certain countries, and how the exploration rate of certain maps has increased by a few percentage points.
The recent research achievements of the Dragon Soaring Club and Phoenix Cry Club, such as new types of protective materials and the number of new operators they have trained.
Han Che sat in the first row, his back ramrod straight, his expression serious, but his eyes were starting to wander.
The meeting was conducted like a performance review, with the voices on stage becoming a buzzing background noise, like a lullaby being poured into his ears.
He rested his chin on his left hand, covered his mouth with his fingers, and secretly yawned. After yawning, he quickly resumed his upright sitting posture.
At the end of the meeting, Zhang Jun, the person in charge, delivered a concluding speech.
He stood up, placed his hands on the table, and spoke a little slower than before.
"The core spirit of this meeting is twofold: first, to cooperate externally; and second, to purge internally."
"The joint training program will continue to be promoted by the authorities, and all organizations are requested to actively cooperate."
"The government must not tolerate the infiltration of foreign forces. Whoever reaches out will have their hand cut off, and whoever has the intention will be slapped in the face."
"They've even infiltrated our Chinese government! This is a provocation! How dare a club sanctioned by the United Nations do something like this!"
It's quite obvious here that Zhang Jun was a bit too angry, and normally he shouldn't have said something without any evidence.
"Ms. Su Lingyi, please convey my official stance to the United Nations and inform them that China will soon begin formal joint training exercises."
"Yes!" Su Lingyi stood up from her seat, her back ramrod straight.
Zhang Jun said a few more polite words, and then announced the end of the meeting.
The leaders on the podium stood up and left the conference room under the escort of men in black.
A moment later, the sound of chair legs scraping against the floor echoed throughout the conference room.
People stood up in twos and threes, nodded to each other, and left one after another.
As these people passed by the first row, they all glanced at Han Che and Qi Yuzhe, wanting to see the expert from the small club featured in the live stream.
However, perhaps due to what happened today, no one took the initiative to approach or chat with them.
To avoid unnecessary trouble, Han Che and his group deliberately came out a little later. By the time they arrived at the parking lot, there were only a few cars left.
"I'm not going back to the club today. I'm going home. Qiuying, can you drive Han Che and Qi Yuzhe?" Xiaobai said, handing the car keys to Qiuying as she stood by the car.
Han Che waved his hand, "No need, I live not far from here, I can go back by myself."
"Are you going home?" Qiu Ying ignored Han Che and asked Xiao Bai.
"Okay." Xiaobai nodded. "It's rare for Mom and Dad to come back, so I'll stay at home for the night. You guys go back, and I'll go back to the club tomorrow."
Qiu Ying smiled and said, "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on things at the club."
"Han Che and his team fought a brilliant battle. Public opinion has already turned around, and now the internet is full of praise. You don't need to worry about it."
"Go back and spend a couple of days with your parents, and don't keep thinking about the club."
Xiao Bai chuckled, somewhat helplessly, "Even if I wanted to stay, they couldn't. After this meeting, it would be good enough if she didn't rush back to the UN tonight. My dad probably won't be idle either; he has a ton of things to do at Longteng."
"That's true, they're all very busy people! Holding such a meeting with so much information, they must be very busy..." Qiu Ying sighed.
"Where are you from...?" Xiaobai asked softly.
"It has nothing to do with me, I don't care," Qiu Ying said.
Xiao Bai didn't press further. She raised her head slightly, turned to look at Han Che, and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "You've worked hard today. You won such a beautiful battle. I didn't get to throw you a victory banquet, but I'll make it up to you later."
"It's alright, it's nothing. However, Qi Yuzhe and I might need to rest for a couple of days as well."
He felt a nudge to the elbow as he spoke. Han Che glanced to the side; Qiu Ying stood beside him, her expression indifferent, saying nothing.
"Ah... okay, get some rest! Everyone should get some rest, because if we really follow the leader's suggestion, we'll definitely be working very hard."
She was speaking when her phone vibrated in her pocket. She took it out, glanced at the screen, raised an eyebrow, and then put the phone away. "They're done on their end, I'm leaving."
After saying that, she waved to the group of people and then jogged towards the back of the headquarters building.
Han Che waved and watched Xiao Bai leave, then turned around to see Qiu Ying looking at him like he was an idiot. "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing!" Qiu Ying emphasized these two words.
He tossed his car keys in his hand, turned, and walked away, saying, "Come on! I'll give you a ride since I'm going that way!"
Han Che followed, originally intending to sit in the passenger seat. After all, it would feel like treating Qiu Ying like a chauffeur when two grown men like him and Qi Yuzhe were sitting in the back and Qiu Ying was driving alone in the front.
But Qiu Ying was quick; she had a bag on the passenger seat and didn't say she was going to take it. Han Che glanced at it and obediently opened the back door and got in. Qi Yuzhe followed and got in from the other side, and the two sat side by side in the back seat.
Before leaving, the men in black at the door returned Han Che and Qi Yuzhe's equipment to them.
The weapons and equipment were placed in two large boxes, which were sealed with tape and stamped.
As the man in black handed over the box, he added, "Be careful on your way back. If anything happens, contact the headquarters directly. We've set up an emergency response team; please trust us."
Qiu Ying nodded, and Han Che and the other person moved the two boxes into the trunk.
The car slowly started and drove out of the headquarters building.
The two rows of men in black at the entrance simultaneously raised their hands in salute. After the car turned onto the main road, Han Che saw in the rearview mirror that the figures of those men in black were getting smaller and smaller, and finally disappeared completely after turning a corner.
The road was quiet. Every so often, a group of men in black could be seen on duty along both sides of the street outside the car window.
Those people were dressed in uniform black combat uniforms, with different colored armbands on their shoulders. Some stood at intersections, while others patrolled along the streets. Everyone was expressionless, with wary eyes.
Han Che noticed that their clothes were all different styles; some had red labels on their left shoulders, some had blue ones, and some had yellow ones.
What's even more obvious is that the people in each duty group stand a little distance from each other and hardly speak to each other except for necessary communication.
