Chapter 110 Leisure Life
Chapter 110 Leisure Life
Song Chen picked up the lobster carcass, weighed it in his hand, and estimated it to be at least 100 pounds.
He threw it onto the beach behind him and continued walking.
At the end of the reef area is a shallow beach, no more than waist-deep, with a seabed of soft mud and sand mixed with broken shells and black volcanic rock particles.
There are even more sea creatures here. In the golden vision of the Illusionary Eye, the light spots are densely packed, like a glowing wheat field.
Song Chen walked into the water. The seawater was above his knees and then above his waist. The seawater was getting colder and colder, but with his current energy and blood, it was nothing.
A mutated starfish emerged from the mud and sand.
It is hundreds of times larger than a normal starfish, with its five arms stretching out to nearly two meters wide. Its body is covered with dark red tubercles, each of which secretes a sticky, luminous mucus.
The mouthparts are located in the center of the body, resembling a constantly moving mouth, filled with fine, inward-growing teeth.
The starfish moved toward him, its five tentacles extending simultaneously, attempting to envelop him.
Song Chen did not retreat. The Tianjun Blade sliced through the water with almost no resistance. The sharpness of an S-class weapon is not much different between water and air.
The blade sliced into the starfish's mouthparts in the center, splitting its body in two.
The starfish's two halves twitched a few times in the water, then remained still.
Dark blue blood gushed from the wound, turning the surrounding seawater black.
[A Tier 2 alien beast has been killed, gaining 41 kill points.]
Song Chen frowned as he looked at the starfish's corpse. This was right near the Yunbo Island base.
"So many...?"
"The ocean is so interesting."
Not far away, several mutated crabs, each two or three meters long, crawled out from the crevices of the rocks. They were smaller than the lobsters from before, but there were more of them, at least seven or eight. Their dark green shells gleamed with a dim light in the glow of the psionic particles.
They lined up in a row, their claws raised high, like a troop of soldiers carrying weapons.
Song Chen walked toward them, the seawater surging around his waist.
He sheathed his sword; dealing with these first and second-tier creatures didn't require a sword.
The first crab pounced, its claws clamping down on his calf.
He lifted his foot and stepped on the crab's carapace, channeling his energy into the sole of his foot, and cracked its shell with one stomp.
The second and third crabs pounced from both sides at the same time. He reached out with both hands, grabbed the claws of the two crabs, twisted them hard, dislocated the claws, and then slammed the two crabs together, shattering their shells and splattering dark blue blood all over him.
The remaining few began to flee, their eight legs paddling rapidly across the mud and sand at an unexpectedly fast speed.
Song Chen chased after them and stomped on them one by one, crushing them like balloons.
[A Tier 1 beast has been killed, gaining 5 kill points.]
[A Tier 1 beast has been killed, gaining 6 kill points.]
[A Tier 2 alien beast has been killed, gaining 22 kill points.]
……
Song Chen stood in the shallows, looking around.
In his golden vision, the dots of light were still densely packed, but he no longer wanted to kill.
It wasn't that he couldn't kill them, but rather that he suddenly felt hungry.
It was lunchtime on the island, and the smell of barbecue wafted over on the sea breeze, mixed with the salty smell of the sea, making his stomach clench.
The food on the island is great; they even have barbecue.
Song Chen carried the giant mutated lobster and walked back to the barracks on the beach.
The soldiers he encountered along the way all stopped to look at him and then saluted.
In the open space behind the barracks, Zhao Kunlun had already set up a huge barbecue grill.
The grill was welded from discarded psionic cannon barrels, measuring ten meters long and three meters wide, clearly designed specifically for mutated sea monsters.
The charcoal fire beneath the grill was burning brightly, the orange-red flames leaping and crackling in the dim light of the psionic particles.
Several long tables and benches were set up nearby, with several large trays already placed on them. There were mutated sea fish that the soldiers had caught during the day, frozen meat that the logistics department had found in the warehouse, as well as some vegetables and steamed buns.
The seasonings were also complete: salt, cumin, chili powder, soy sauce, minced garlic, shredded ginger... all laid out in a row.
When Zhao Kunlun saw Song Chen walking over, his gaze fell on the mutated lobster in Song Chen's hand, and his eyes lit up.
"That's huge! You're lucky. Where did you get it?"
"Eastern reef area."
As Song Chen spoke, he handed over the lobster.
Zhao Kunlun took the lobster, weighed it in his hand, and grinned.
"This thing has thick flesh, it's best eaten roasted. Go wash up, change your clothes, and you'll be almost done when you come back."
Afterwards, Song Chen returned to his dormitory, took a shower, changed into clean clothes, and when he returned to the open space, there were already more than a dozen people gathered around the grill.
Besides Zhao Kunlun, there were a few other people he had never met before.
A tall, thin officer, wearing glasses and holding a fan, was fanning the charcoal fire. His name was Chen Yuanzhi, the chief of staff of Yunbo Island Base, a fourth-level initial stage officer. He was a civilian official but had rich combat experience.
A short, stout middle-aged man, wearing an apron and holding a brush, was brushing oil onto the skewers. His name was Lao Liu, the head chef of the base's canteen. He was a third-level martial artist with mediocre knife skills but first-rate cooking skills.
A young female officer, with short hair and skin roughened by the sea breeze, but with regular features, large eyes, and two dimples when she smiled, was named Shen Yutong, an intelligence analyst at Yunbo Island base, a third-level initial stage, and the daughter of Shen Tie.
There was also a taciturn young soldier sitting in the corner, holding a dagger and whittling a wooden stick.
His name is Xiao Wu, an ordinary soldier, a second-tier martial artist, with excellent marksmanship, and he is the best sniper in the base.
Song Chen walked over and sat down next to the long table.
Shen Yutong glanced at him, her face slightly flushed, remembering what her father had just told her: girls should know how to seize opportunities.
She immediately lowered her head again and continued to turn the fish on the grill. Her ears were red, not from being grilled over charcoal.
She took a deep breath to calm herself down, but her heart was still racing.
"You're Song Chen?" Old Liu peeked out from behind the grill, looking Song Chen up and down, his gaze lingering on the Tianjun Blade at his waist.
"The principal's star pupil, a first-class combat hero, and this is it?"
He pointed to Song Chen's thin figure, "Too thin. You need to eat more."
As he spoke, he picked up a grilled mutated sea fish from the grill and stuffed the whole thing into Song Chen's hand.
The fish was huge, almost as long as Song Chen's arm. The skin was roasted to a golden brown and crispy, and the aroma of the fish meat mixed with the flavors of cumin and chili powder made it very appetizing.
Song Chen took a bite. The fish was tender and juicy, melting in her mouth. The salty, fragrant, and spicy flavors exploded on her tongue at the same time.
I chewed it twice, swallowed it, and then took another bite, bigger than the first one.
"tasty."
Old Liu smiled, a very satisfied smile, and then picked up another skewer and placed it on the plate in front of Song Chen.
