Chapter 262 The Land of Gentle Comfort
Chapter 262 The Land of Gentle Comfort
In mid-December, Beijing gets colder day by day after winter sets in.
Fu Yibai called Wang Peng over and handed him the script.
After that, he went to the editing room to oversee the post-production process.
Just before I was about to leave work in the evening, my phone suddenly rang.
Caller ID: Gao Yuanyuan.
"Feed?"
"Yi Bai, are you busy?"
The voice on the other end of the phone was soft and languid.
"I'm not busy. What's up?"
"It's nothing, I just...missed you."
Fu Yibai leaned back in his chair, a slight smile curving his lips.
"I'm at the company."
"I know.
I wanted to ask if you're free tonight.
I'll cook for you.
"OK."
"Then it's settled."
Six o'clock, at my house.
After hanging up the phone, Fu Yibai glanced at the time: 4:30 PM.
He sent a message to Guo Zhenni using his mobile phone.
"We're going to Gao Yuanyuan's place tonight. Please arrange a car."
Guo Zhenni replied instantly: "Okay, Mr. Fu."
At 6 p.m., the car stopped at the entrance of Gao Yuanyuan's residential area. As usual, the bodyguard got out of the car first to check around, and then opened the car door.
"Mr. Fu, there's nothing unusual around here."
Fu Yibai got out of the car, and a cold wind hit his face, turning his breath into white mist.
He pulled his black cashmere coat tighter around himself and strode into the apartment building.
I went upstairs and came to the door. As soon as I rang the doorbell, the door opened, as if someone had been waiting at the door all along.
Gao Yuanyuan stood behind the door, wearing a loose, off-white sweater, with what appeared to be nothing underneath, her two long, beautiful legs blatantly exposed to the air.
Her hair was loose over her shoulders, she wasn't wearing makeup, and her skin shone brightly under the lights.
"You're here! Come in quickly."
The door closed, and before Fu Yibai could speak, Gao Yuanyuan kissed him.
She wrapped her arms around Fu Yibai's neck and pressed herself against him, as if she wanted to meld herself into his body.
Fu Yibai put his arm around her waist and returned her kiss.
Gao Yuanyuan's lips were soft, with a faint sweet taste of lipstick. She used her tongue to pry open his lips and explore inside.
Her breath was rapid and hot, spraying onto his face, making his heart ache.
The two kissed their way from the entryway to the living room, staggering and scattering their clothes along the way.
Gao Yuanyuan's sweater was thrown on the sofa, and her underwear slipped down with it.
"Yuanyuan—"
"Don't speak."
Gao Yuanyuan interrupted him, pushed him down onto the sofa, and then straddled his lap.
She looked down at him, her hair loose over her shoulders, her cheeks flushed, and her eyes glistening with tears.
Her chest heaved, her breathing hadn't calmed down, and her graceful curves trembled slightly with each breath.
"The food's getting cold, let's eat first."
She got up, put on the clothes she had just taken off, and ran into the kitchen with a smile.
Fu Yibai was caught in a dilemma by her, which made him very uncomfortable, but he did not force her to go back to the room.
On the table were four dishes and a soup: stir-fried seasonal vegetables, sweet and sour pork ribs, cola chicken wings, braised fish, and a bowl of steaming chicken soup.
"Did you do this?"
"Um."
Gao Yuanyuan served him a bowl of soup and placed it in front of him.
"Try it, I've been stewing it all afternoon."
Fu Yibai picked up the soup bowl and took a sip. The chicken soup was rich and the meat was tender and melted in his mouth.
"It tastes good."
"real?"
Gao Yuanyuan's eyes lit up, and she put another piece of pork rib on his plate.
"Then eat more, you've lost weight."
"You've lost weight too."
Fu Yibai glanced at her.
"Haven't you been eating properly lately?"
"Once we've eaten, the shop is busy."
Gao Yuanyuan sat down opposite him, holding the bowl in both hands and sipping the soup slowly.
"Is the flower shop doing so well?"
"It's alright, mainly because we have a lot of regular customers."
Gao Yuanyuan put down her bowl, a smile on her lips.
"And now I don't just sell flowers, I also take on some floral design jobs, for weddings, banquets and the like, and the income is pretty good."
"Whatever makes you happy."
Fu Yibai picked up a piece of fish; the fish was tender and the seasoning was just right.
"If you ever decide you don't want to run the shop anymore, just come back to Chenxi. There are plenty of resources there."
"I know."
Gao Yuanyuan looked at him with a hint of tenderness in her eyes.
"But I'm doing very well now. I film when there are roles, and I take care of the shop when there aren't."
We ate dinner slowly, chatting as we ate.
Gao Yuanyuan talked about the flower shop, about the wedding floral designs she had recently taken on, and how diligent the new young lady in the shop was.
Fu Yibai listened, occasionally interjecting a few words, a smile always on his lips.
After finishing her meal, Gao Yuanyuan cleared away the dishes.
Fu Yibai stood at the kitchen doorway, watching her busy figure, and felt a strange, indescribable feeling.
Gao Yuanyuan has never been competitive or vying for anything since I met her.
Opening a flower shop, raising a cat, cooking every day—life is simple and peaceful.
But she is not the kind of person who is passive and avoids the world.
She has her own business, which, although small, is very successful.
"What are you thinking about?"
Gao Yuanyuan turned her head and found him staring at her, her face flushing slightly.
"It's nothing."
Fu Yibai walked over and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind.
Gao Yuanyuan's body stiffened for a moment, then softened and she leaned into his arms.
"Stop fooling around, I'm washing the dishes."
"I'll wash it tomorrow."
"No, we'll do it tomorrow—"
"Then let it soak."
Fu Yibai turned off the tap, turned Gao Yuanyuan around so that she was facing him.
Gao Yuanyuan looked up and met his gaze; her heart began to race.
"Yi Bai——"
Her voice was soft and trembling.
Fu Yibai lowered his head and kissed her lips.
Gao Yuanyuan closed her eyes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and responded to his kiss.
Fu Yibai's palm rested on her waist, his fingertips gently caressing her skin.
Her breathing became erratic, and the kisses moved from her lips to her chin, from her chin to her Adam's apple, and all the way down.
"Yi Bai..."
Gao Yuanyuan called his name, her voice as soft as water.
Fu Yibai picked her up and sat her on the kitchen counter.
The bra strap had slipped down halfway during the movement, revealing her rounded shoulder and a small patch of fair skin below her collarbone.
"Stop looking..."
She lowered her head, her voice barely audible, like a mosquito's buzz.
Fu Yibai didn't speak, but leaned down and kissed the fullness.
Gao Yuanyuan's body trembled slightly, her fingers gripping his shirt tightly.
Her breathing became more and more rapid, her chest heaved more and more, and her lips parted, emitting very soft breaths.
"Carry me back to my room..."
Her voice was muffled in the crook of his neck, trembling slightly.
Fu Yibai lifted her off the kitchen counter, and Gao Yuanyuan wrapped her legs around his waist, hanging on him.
The two people went from the kitchen to the living room, and from the living room to the bedroom.
Gao Yuanyuan's halter top slipped completely during the journey, but she didn't care and just hugged him tighter.
The bedroom door was pushed open and then closed.
The moonlight outside the window moved slowly, creeping from the floor to the edge of the bed, and then onto the two people's bodies.
As night deepened, a suppressed, intermittent murmur rose from the room, like a spring stream, exceptionally clear in the quiet night.
