Chapter 1221 - 1210: Refusing to Be Oppressed
Listening to Ye Qiu’s words and seeing her disdainful look, Wang Lidan turned so angry her face turned blue.
She lashed out, "Really? Spent one night and now you’re all that? What right do you have to yell at me? You think I’m afraid of you? Do you have evidence for what you’re saying? Do you know what kind of punishment you’ll receive for spreading rumors in the company?"
"Slap!" Without hesitation, Ye Qiu raised her right hand and slapped Wang Lidan, taking everyone by surprise with a blow that was both crisp and satisfying.
"You dare hit me?" Wang Lidan screamed, like a madwoman trying to pull Ye Qiu’s hair. "You little bitch, do you think just because you’re clinging onto Zhao Sen I have no way to deal with you? I’ll ruin you."
Ye Qiu didn’t hold back either, quickly grabbing her hair, just like with the slap, her hand was fast and precise, leaving Wang Lidan powerless to resist.
"Hiss!" The watching colleagues gasped, utterly stunned.
"Are you all idiots? Quickly pull this madwoman away." Wang Lidan shouted at the colleagues, tears of pain streaming down her face.
Originally, everyone intended to intervene, but upon hearing her commanding tone, they felt uncomfortable and moved a bit slower.
"Oh dear, what’s going on, it’s almost work time."
"Yeah, it’s just a bit of bickering, Ye Qiu, be the bigger person and don’t argue with our Sister Wang."
"Sister Wang, what’s up with you, why get angry with the newbie?"
What nonsense are they talking about? Wang Lidan was so angry her mouth twisted, were they blaming it all on her now? Clearly, Ye Qiu slapped her without reason. Are they all blind?
Seeing that everyone was trying to mediate, Ye Qiu pretended to let go, acting as if she were wronged: "Sister Wang, I’m sorry, are you okay? It was only because you came to pull my hair that I retaliated."
"How dare you say that? It was you who hit first, and now you’re pretending?" Wang Lidan was shaking with anger, pointing at Ye Qiu, almost bursting with rage.
"Sister Wang, how can you say that? If you hadn’t wronged me, I wouldn’t have lost my temper and acted impulsively. I’m young and immature, can’t withstand grievances, but Sister Wang, you’ve been in society for so long, why argue with someone so young?" Ye Qiu said even more innocently, but her expression showed a complete lack of concern.
So Wang Lidan became even more furious, especially seeing everyone else looking like they were holding back laughter, she felt her dignity was being trampled terribly by Ye Qiu.
"You green tea bitch, do you really think clinging to Zhao Sen makes you safe? Who does he think he is? Crushing you is only a matter of moments," Wang Lidan said furiously, suddenly seeing everyone’s expressions change as they looked behind her.
She turned around to see Zhao Sen staring gloomily at her and Ye Qiu, her face turned pale instantly, stammering, "Zhao... Manager Zhao, let me explain, that’s not what I meant, I was just upset by Ye Qiu and saying nonsense."
"I’ll talk to you later," Zhao Sen said coldly, then with a fiercer look towards Ye Qiu, "Ye Qiu, I always thought you were doing well. Why did you hang up on me over the weekend?"
"Manager, as you said, yesterday was the weekend," Ye Qiu smiled boldly, "I have the right not to work on a rest day, right? The company’s policies don’t mention having to answer a leader’s call on holidays!"
"What if I had something really important to discuss with you?"
"Then Manager, you should have notified me in advance. Besides, I’m just an intern; the company shouldn’t have anything so crucial that only I can manage, right? If it really is something only I can handle, then Manager, are you going to promote me and give me a raise?" Ye Qiu said seemingly innocent, but anyone could hear the sarcasm in her voice.
Office colleagues rolled their eyes internally; they’re just from the logistics department, what important matter could there be? Surely it was something that needed a signature, and the manager was sending the newbie again, just like they experienced before. They eventually learned to mute the manager during holidays, so they weren’t the ones being needed.
You ask why they don’t fear Zhao Sen’s tricks? Naturally, those who stay aren’t too concerned about promotions, just want a stable job to pass the time, and they’ve signed contracts with the company, so Zhao Sen can’t just fire them for any random reason. What are they afraid of? Annoying them during work is one thing, but don’t disturb them on rest days.
In the past, they didn’t dare to resist, but now that someone dared to push back, they’re finding it quite satisfying to watch.
"Ye Qiu, you’re an intern; do you know what those three words mean? Being an intern means if I’m dissatisfied with your performance, I can dismiss you anytime and without any compensation." Zhao Sen said with a dangerous tone.
"Then Manager, just fire me." Ye Qiu said indifferently, "After all, I do more work than I get paid for, do you think I’m eager to stay?"
"You..." Zhao Sen looked at Ye Qiu in disbelief, unable to believe that this wasn’t a threat to her. Wasn’t she short on money? Wasn’t she afraid of losing her job? Didn’t she still need his signature on the internship certificate?
"You should think this through; without an internship certificate, you might not be able to graduate." Zhao Sen thought he had grabbed Ye Qiu’s lifeline again.
"Is that so? Even though an internship certificate can be procured from anywhere, but Manager, do you think the big boss would be interested in your embezzlement affairs?" Ye Qiu threatened back like him, "Manager is a smart person, should know how to make choices, right? I’m not asking for much, just give me this month’s salary and stamp my certificate, and I promise not to disclose any information about your embezzlement."
Zhao Sen squinted his eyes, saying sinisterly, "Spreading rumors comes with legal responsibilities."
"But I have evidence!" Ye Qiu suddenly produced a USB drive, smiling at him, "Otherwise, why do you think I’ve been so compliant these past months?"
"You..." Zhao Sen was uncertain if Ye Qiu truly had evidence. He racked his brain, recalling the past month, realizing there were indeed a few instances where due to arrogance he might have dropped his guard. Could Ye Qiu have really recorded them?
"Manager, do you want to make this deal?" Ye Qiu kept smiling, but everyone felt that this smile wasn’t innocent at all, maybe even a bit terrifying. They all misjudged her, thought she was just some naive, poor student. Turns out she was playing the long game, and none of them saw it. Are today’s students all this formidable?
But seeing Zhao Sen squirm really was quite satisfying! After all, they weren’t the ones being threatened.
