Chapter 2536: Inviting the Senior to Re-emerge
Chapter 2536: Inviting the Senior to Re-emerge
Carson Flores never expected that Briony Simmons, who had been missing for years, would appear beside the old Sect Leader.
Being led to his room by Briony, she finally asked in a low voice, "How is my father doing?"
Carson smiled and said, "He’s fine, nothing to worry about."
After a pause, Carson asked, "Why are you here, if you don’t mind me asking?"
Briony whispered, "I was being hunted and ended up here. My benefactor saved me. After learning why I came, he let me stay. Given my skills, stepping outside would mean certain death sooner or later."
Carson nodded, "You’re indeed lucky."
Briony sighed, "Yes, as a female cultivator, it’s extremely difficult to safely pass through the Suffering Pray Sea."
Carson reassured her, "Don’t worry. Once the Holy Son finds this place and talks with the senior, perhaps we won’t need to stay here anymore."
Briony widened her eyes with surprise and joy, "We can leave?"
Carson glanced at the room next door, "That depends on the senior."
Briony nodded softly, "The senior is very kind. Don’t worry, just settle in. Even though this is inside the Giant Tortoise, it doesn’t hinder your cultivation. If you want to breakthrough tribulation, you’ll need to go outside."
Carson chuckled, "I just had a breakthrough. Who knows when the next one will be? No rush."
Briony nodded, "Then rest well. If you need anything, just call for me."
"Alright, thank you!"
Carson settled into the belly of the Giant Tortoise as Briony had described. Despite being inside, the spiritual energy was abundant, allowing for full cultivation.
The old Sect Leader was evidently suspicious of Carson. Plus, Carson was merely a church disciple, not holding a high position, so after settling in, no one questioned him.
Carson wasn’t in a hurry, as all the information he shared was true, except for his identity, which Lorvian Randall wouldn’t expose.
He was safe.
He stayed for over half a year until he saw Lorvian Randall, covered in blood and pale-faced.
This guy finally showed up!
Just that ghostly look of his, could it be he fought with the Giant Tortoise first?
Lorvian Randall approached the ship cautiously, a blend of anticipation and vigilance in his eyes.
Carson stepped out and greeted Lorvian with a hand salute, "Lord Holy Son, you finally came!"
Seeing Carson, Lorvian’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head in shock.
"Lin...how are you here? I thought you failed the breakthrough!"
Carson respectfully replied, "I chose a deserted sea area for advancement, unwittingly disturbing the old Sect Leader’s meditation. Just after succeeding, I was absorbed into this place by the Giant Tortoise. For the past six months, I’ve been waiting for your arrival, Lord Holy Son."
With Carson’s explanation, Lorvian understood everything and said excitedly, "You mean...the old Sect Leader is here?"
Carson nodded and stayed silent.
He had shared all necessary information, reminding what was essential. Now it was up to Lorvian Randall to persuade the old Sect Leader.
By the old Sect Leader’s attitude, it’s likely he was indeed persecuted by the current Sect Hierarch, who never stopped hunting him. The old Sect Leader probably harbored resentment.
If given a chance, the old Sect Leader would surely break out and reclaim power.
Lorvian hovered in the air, respectfully saluting, "Sea God Church Holy Son, Lorvian Randall, greets the senior."
The room of the old Sect Leader opened, and he sat cross-legged inside, his voice calm, "How do you prove your identity?"
Lorvian presented his Holy Son’s Order, "This is the Holy Son’s Order, senior, please take a look!"
The Holy Son’s Order flew into the room, landing in the old Sect Leader’s hand. His divine sense scanned over it, his gaze softened slightly.
The Sea God Church Holy Son’s identity is esteemed. If the person wanted to deal with him, they wouldn’t let the Holy Son take a risk, adding to Carson’s previously verified information. He mostly believed Carson and Lorvian Randall now.
"Come in."
"Yes!"
Lorvian landed on the ship and entered the old Sect Leader’s room, eyes gleaming with excitement upon seeing the seated elder.
He checked the records, confirming that the elder before him was the former Sect Leader, Halvyr Briggs.
"I heard you were looking for me?"
Lorvian bowed, "Senior, the Sea God Sect is rife with factions, and internal strife runs rampant. Self-interest prevails over the sect’s welfare. The Sect Hierarch is engrossed in cultivation, neglects duties, leaving affairs in the hands of greedy individuals, which may lead to the sect’s collapse over time."
"I investigated important records and discovered irregularities involving your retirement as Sect Leader. I hoped to find you to request your return and reorganize the Sea God Church!"
Halvyr Briggs fixed his gaze on Lorvian, "I have confirmed you’re the Holy Son, but how can I know you’re not sent by that person, aiming to lure me out to eradicate me?"
Lorvian took out an antiquated compass-like object, reverently handing it to Halvyr Briggs.
"This was given by Director Newman of the Elders’ Council. He said if I truly found you, I should hand this to you..."
