Chapter 345 - 67: Salvation Declaration
Chapter 345 - 67: Salvation Declaration
Although it was hard on Duke Qinghui, it at least satisfied the silver-haired girl’s curiosity about tutoring. He even personally participated in giving a back massage, leaving him with a great sense of accomplishment.
The next few days were a rare time of leisure. While Westheid enjoyed himself, he also ordered all of Qinghui Territory to begin operating at full capacity.
The rear bases in Purity Forest, including Su Yue, began to drastically increase production, accommodate refugees on a massive scale, and expand and reorganize their armies. Following these bold and decisive orders, Westheid delivered a speech in Su Yue.
Millions of people crowded the squares and streets. High atop skyscrapers, between floating platforms, and on airships, giant screens displayed Westheid’s indescribably handsome face.
Duke Qinghui took a deep breath. His voice, transmitted by amplifiers, reached every corner of Su Yue, loud and clear.
"People of Purity! And all other subjects of Qinghui Territory! Listen to me."
As Westheid’s voice rang out, the slightly noisy city of Su Yue fell silent in mere moments. Millions of people held their breath, waiting for that one voice.
Westheid savored the feeling of being the center of everyone’s attention. The man raised his head and began to speak slowly.
"You might be wondering about the recent changes. Why is Qinghui Territory continuing to expand its army? Are we going to war? Or has the Chaos Tide returned?"
Hearing Westheid say this, the crowd immediately grew nervous. Only a few years had passed since the impact of the Chaos Tide, and most of the Purity People still had lingering fears.
Fortunately, their anxiety did not last long. On the screen, their Lord shook his head.
"That is not the case. Through the arduous battles we have fought and our efforts over the past two years, the Chaos Forces around Qinghui Territory have been completely wiped out. I promise you all that from this day forward, not a single Chaos Hundred Form will be able to set foot in Purity Forest! This Holy Land will never be defiled!"
Westheid first made this solemn vow, then continued:
"By relying on ample preparation and independent growth, we have kept the threat of Chaos at bay. This is, of course, a blessing for our Qinghui Territory."
"However, beyond Qinghui Territory, the entire Mortal World has been plunged into a level of chaos unseen for millennia, all due to the cataclysm of separation between gods and mortals. And while we firmly believe that the Great Chaos Enemy cannot completely crush the Order Creatures, this process will inevitably be accompanied by immense suffering and sacrifice."
"Therefore, I have made a decision and hereby declare to the entire Mortal World: Qinghui Territory will aid all territories in distress, expecting nothing in return. Not just the Imperial Provinces, but other Realms of Order and even the remote corners of the Lands of Chaos will receive aid from Qinghui Territory."
"This is not a campaign for territorial expansion, nor do we ask for any reward or thanks. It is a war waged purely for the sake of morality and justice."
As soon as these powerful words fell, the people of Su Yue, who had been quiet, could no longer contain themselves. They stared in astonishment at the impassioned Duke Qinghui.
’Wait, Your Majesty, what are you talking about?’
’Is he really that much of an internationalist? Surely our morals as the Purity People aren’t that lofty, right?’
Westheid, however, had already anticipated such doubts. Before the crowd’s hesitation could grow, he continued:
"Some will ask, why should we save those from other lands, or even those of other Alien Races? Our faiths are different, our customs are different, our languages are different, and our races are different. Why should we care if they live or die? Isn’t it enough to just build our own homeland?"
"Yes, why indeed?"
On the screens and projections, Duke Qinghui smiled faintly, a dazzling sight.
"Because the enemy is there. Do we need a reason to fight when facing the Great Enemy that threatens Order in the Mortal World?"
"No! Since we possess extraordinary luck and power, how can we turn our backs on the suffering of others? How can we allow demons and monsters to run rampant?!"
"This world needs justice! It needs someone to stand up and save this chaotic age of moral collapse! Is that so difficult to understand? It is for this very reason that I have also taken the throne of the Yonglan Knight King—not out of any greed for power, nor out of any dissatisfaction with Purity Forest as it is today, but to rally the strength needed to win this war of salvation!"
Westheid raised [Shadow-Born]. The moment its crimson blade left its sheath, the clear sky itself seemed to reflect the edge’s light, casting a faint red hue across the sky beneath the [Ring of Clear Skies].
"All Purity People! All my subjects! All Warriors loyal to me!"
"March to war! Advance! Be the ones who turn the tide! Fight the good and holy fight! After this, endless glory shall adorn our crowns!"
"We shall bring peace to the world, and we shall bring a sword to the earth!"
"Long live!"
"Your Majesty! We love you!!"
As his voice fell, the first to be stirred by Westheid’s speech and cheer uncontrollably were the Qinghui Guard and the Yonglan Knights. These two groups were pure warriors; for them, having a war to fight was more important than the reason for fighting it.
Afterward, the other groups, infected by this atmosphere, also grew fervent. The shouts of millions converged into a single voice, a single name:
"Long live!!"
"Westheid! Westheid!"
"..."
’It didn’t matter if some weren’t swept up in the fervor, anyway. Westheid was just informing them. As the autocratic patriarch, his power was absolute!’
Westheid descended from the high platform amidst a tsunami of cheers. His first words were to Yolanda:
"Did you record the whole speech? Make two hundred million copies and distribute them to the world. Free of charge, of course."
The platinum-blonde maiden hurriedly replied, "Please rest assured, Brother. Our industrial capacity and logistics systems will work at full power to ensure it."
The black-haired, purple-eyed Duke Qinghui then turned to the Silver-haired Princess:
"Reiya, can the Royal Forbidden Army and Imperial Army you lead also participate in this campaign?"
The White-haired Dragon Lady gazed at him, her magnificent Cang Tong firm and full of deep affection.
"West... you don’t need to be so formal. Unless death do us part, my answer will always be the same."
Westheid felt the weight of her words for a moment, but he took it in stride. He gave Reiya an encouraging hug, then turned to another person:
"And Mivana, our forces will need to fight on multiple fronts. I hope you can also lead a unit independently."
"No problem! No problem! Absolutely no problem!"
The Wolf-eared Maiden’s fair, delicate face was already flushed red as she nodded furiously.
If there was anyone who genuinely approved of Westheid’s speech from the bottom of their heart, rather than being convinced by his personal Charm, it would be the Knight of Chivalry.
Westheid no longer needed ordinary merits to advance his Tier. Above the Legendary Celestial Rank, one was already beyond the secular Extraordinary System. What he needed to keep advancing was a "Great Enterprise." Merits were only about proving oneself—even if you were a Ten-Mile Slope Sword God, it would still count as a merit as long as you achieved a personal breakthrough.
A Great Enterprise, however, had to influence others and earn the fanatical worship and following of the masses. The role of public opinion in this was undeniable; a little more propaganda was definitely a good thing.
The absolute moral high ground, an unassailable public image, and noble character and conduct.
This was the image Duke Qinghui wanted to craft. Regardless of how depraved Westheid’s private morals were (in truth, they weren’t that bad), as long as this speech was spread far and wide and he actually put his words into practice, his prestige would become as brilliant as the midday sun.
With an image viewed through such an incredible filter, backed by overwhelming propaganda and indisputable facts, it was predictable that Westheid’s admirers would increase exponentially.
Westheid wasn’t afraid of the burdens that came with being an idol; in fact, he was delighted by the idea of an "idol filter."
Duke Qinghui nodded and said, "Then get ready. In a few weeks, I will lead a team to rendezvous with the Knight Expeditionary Army."
The Knight Expeditionary Army would naturally be the main fighting force, but they couldn’t be expected to do everything. At the very least, after the Yonglan Expeditionary Army liberated a Province, Westheid needed to arrive on-site to win over the populace and make a formal appearance. Otherwise, relying on the Knights alone to spread his name with a recording of the speech would feel far too empty.
’Alas, the Yonglan Knights fought so hard against Chaos for so long, only for Duke Qinghui to swoop in and reap the rewards. It’s truly a bitter pill to swallow.’
