#335 - Chapter 69: Suppressing the Rebellion (Part 2)

The Beast Guard was a newly formed guard army created by Daenerys Targaryen after she conquered Meereen. Its members were all ordinary citizens of Meereen and formerly enslaved people who had now been liberated. To show their complete break with the corrupt old system and to warmly embrace the coming new era of Meereen, they shaved off their iconic Ghiscari hairstyles, hence the name "Shaved Heads." However, the Sons of the Harpy regarded the Shaved Heads as traitors, targeting them, along with the freedmen and the Unsullied, for assassination, wanting to eliminate them all.

Although the soldiers had made it clear that the operation was aimed at capturing the Sons of the Harpy rebels, the fear and confusion in the hearts of ordinary people and those who sympathized with the Sons of the Harpy were not lessened in the slightest, and they were still trembling with fear! Of course, there were also people who, for the sake of reward, actively reported their neighbors to the city guard. After all, they had lived together for so many years, how could they not know each other? The concept of "better a dead friend than a poor me" is not unique to Eastern societies.

In a quiet and dark corner of the city, several dark figures were quietly gathering. They were members of the notorious Sons of the Harpy organization, and they were now secretly discussing how to deal with the current massive manhunt.

"We can't just sit and wait for death! We have to do something! Those bastards won't even spare our families!" one of the men said angrily, gritting his teeth.

"However, there are too many Unsullied and Beast Guards. With our current strength, how can we fight against them?" another man asked with a worried look on his face.

"Are we just going to stretch our necks and wait to be slaughtered? And then watch our loved ones fall into eternal doom!"

"There must be a way..." A determined look flashed in the eyes of the leader. "As long as I can protect my family, I will have no regrets, even if it costs me anything."

"What good idea could there be! We might as well fight them to the death. Anyone with guts, come with me... Pfft!" Before he could finish his sentence, half of a sharp sword had pierced straight out of his open mouth.

The atmosphere suddenly became extremely heavy, as if the air had solidified. The leader's eyes were cold, and he held the blood-stained blade tightly in his hand, saying to the others, "I'm sorry, but I really have no choice! Only with your heads can I exchange for the safety of my family!"

One of his companions exclaimed in astonishment, "Are you crazy? You're actually listening to the invaders' nonsense!"

The leader's face was full of sorrow and helplessness, and he replied in a trembling voice, "You don't understand, those despicable Good Masters have already abandoned us. Desperate, I can only hope that the Dragon Mother will keep her promise." Before he finished speaking, he resolutely raised his weapon and pounced on the three men, his attacks fierce and merciless.

Faced with such a fierce attack, the other three men, of course, would not sit idly by and wait for death. They quickly picked up their respective weapons and met him head-on. In an instant, the light of swords and blades flashed, and the four of them engaged in a thrilling life-and-death battle.

The huge noise caused by this fierce battle quickly attracted the attention of the nearby patrol. When a team of fully armed Beast Guards rushed over, what they saw was horrifying—the narrow and dark alley was covered in blood, and four cold corpses lay scattered about, along with a wounded man who was covered in blood and on the verge of death. The man sat leaning against the wall, his body curled up into a ball, as if he had lost all his strength. His nose and half of his cheek were gone, leaving only a hideous wound, from which blood kept gushing out. His left hand was tightly covering the shocking wound in his abdomen, and even so, one could still glimpse the internal organs through the gaps between his fingers.

A soldier carefully crouched down and examined him carefully, then silently shook his head at his companion, indicating that the man's injuries were too severe and he was beyond saving. At this moment, the man said in an extremely weak voice, "Those people... they are all members of the Sons of the Harpy... I sincerely want to confess to Her Majesty the Queen and beg her to forgive my family..."

His eyes were filled with endless pleading and despair, as if he were pinning his last hope on the strangers in front of him.

The surrounding soldiers all turned their eyes to the Unsullied, waiting for his instructions. The Unsullied was silent for a moment before saying, "The Regent has ordered that if a rebel can expose an accomplice, one member of his family can be pardoned; if he actively captures or kills a rebel, two members of his family can be pardoned. However, members of the Sons of the Harpy are not included in this range."

Hearing this, the man suddenly laughed, his laughter mixed with bitterness and helplessness: "Thank you very much, Her Majesty the Queen is so kind! This is where my family is, please be sure to save them... It is the sins I have committed that deserve punishment!" Before he could finish speaking, he trembled and raised the dagger in his hand, slashing it across his throat without hesitation. In an instant, scarlet blood spurted out, splattering everywhere.

Surprisingly, on the man's face, which had already become a bloody mess, a hint of unspeakable relief appeared. Perhaps for him, ending his life in this way was both a redemption for his sins and the best protection for his family.

The Unsullied expressionlessly took the note from the man's cold hand, then gestured to the soldiers behind him to carry the man's body away for disposal. After doing all this, the Unsullied went to the man's home according to the address written on the note.

When they pushed open the door, a strong sense of fear rushed towards them. The man's wife and children huddled together tightly, hiding in the corner of the room, staring at the uninvited guests with terrified eyes. The Unsullied's gaze was as cold as ice, and he announced emotionlessly, "Your husband has been sentenced to death for participating in the Sons of the Harpy's rebellion. However, in the battle with other rebels, he successfully killed the opponent, winning you a pardon. Unfortunately, he was too badly injured and eventually died. Here is some money, which is considered an extra reward for you. I hope you can live a stable life with your children in the future!"

After speaking, the Unsullied completely ignored the woman who was already in tears, and simply took out a heavy money bag and forcibly stuffed it into the woman's trembling hands. The woman was filled with gratitude and sobbed as she accepted this gift, then tightly hugged the children beside her and burst into tears.
