#176 - Chapter 22 Conspiracy

Tyrion had returned from the Wall and, passing through Winterfell, gave Bran a set of blueprints. It was a specially designed saddle he had personally designed so he could ride a horse like a normal person.

Not long after they left, Catelyn indeed arrived in King's Landing. According to inside sources, they met with Stark under Petyr's arrangement. Approximately two days later, Catelyn left King's Landing. She visited Highgarden on the way, but the guards did not allow them to enter.

Five days ago, the King's Landing tournament officially began, tentatively scheduled for seven days. Also included were updates on Sansa and Arya's lives in King's Landing. Liu Yuan glanced through it briefly and handed both reports to Rickon, telling him to go read them himself.

Mark continued, "Prince Viserys of Pentos has sent five invitations in a row. Since you were away, we took the liberty of dealing with it for you, but he is growing increasingly impatient."

Liu Yuan stroked his chin and said, "Send word that we're heading back to Westeros tomorrow. Have the ships in the harbor prepared. I'll take a look at this guy while I'm at it..."

The Moratis estate, owned by Illyrio, is now Viserys's temporary palace, guarded by the Unsullied Liu Yuan gave him. It appears very solemn. Viserys himself has recruited over two hundred men, mostly mercenaries and outlaws who have spent years living in the Disputed Lands.

Viserys smiled and said, "Commander Galon, you are indeed difficult to invite! I've been waiting for a full month. Please, have a seat! This is Arbor Gold wine from the Arbor, quite rare."

Liu Yuan also responded with a smile, "It seems Prince Viserys has been living well lately! I've heard that Daenerys has married Drogo, the Dothraki Khal. You may not know, but I have a very good relationship with Drogo. It's a pity I couldn't attend their wedding."

Viserys used his drink to mask his embarrassment: "Ahem... Commander Galon, I apologize. Our previous agreement may need to be revised. You can make any requests you have."

Liu Yuan: "Your Highness, you may have misunderstood. With your current strength, you are still not worth my bet. Drogo's forty thousand horsemen can't swim across the Narrow Sea."

Viserys stood up: "But I am the rightful ruler of Westeros, and now I have an army."

Liu Yuan interrupted him: "No, you don't yet. And your supporters are not enough. You need at least a fleet that can cross the sea. However, please don't be discouraged. I have an idea for you, how about it?"

Viserys calmed down: "Oh? I wonder what good suggestions Commander Galon has?"

Liu Yuan: "Have you heard of the War of the Ninepenny Kings?"

Viserys wasn't stupid: "Are you talking about the pirates of the Stepstones and those damned rebels?"

Liu Yuan waved his hand: "The Blackfyres are extinct. Those are just homeless wretches. Everything in this world is negotiable, including loyalty. But it depends on whether you can afford the price."

Viserys pondered: "Commander Galon, are you really unwilling to help me? I can immediately make you my Hand of the King, wielding power second only to me."

Liu Yuan shook his head: "I'm sorry, the cards in your hand are not enough to win me over. However, your development is faster than I imagined. I will increase my investment in you. I will provide you with another sum of money, fifty thousand gold dragons, which will be delivered here tomorrow."

Viserys: "That's a pity. I believe our time to work together is not far off." He was becoming more and more confident in his return to King's Landing. Viserys recalled scenes from his childhood in his mind: the magnificent throne hall, the dark Iron Throne representing supreme power, and the dragon bones adorning the corridors…

…………………………

King's Landing, Red Keep underground tomb. After Robert usurped the throne, the giant dragon skeletons originally displayed in the throne hall were piled up here.

Arya followed a kitten here and was immediately attracted by these huge skeletons. She even reached out and stroked the fangs that were bigger than her, exclaiming, "This is a dragon! So they really existed. If Bran were here, that would be great." Although she always bullied her brother, their relationship was deep, and she knew about Bran's disability.

Arya groped around the smaller dragon heads. The smallest one might not even be as big as Nymeria. She tried to break off a few dragon teeth from above and was about to draw her sword when her ears twitched. She nimbly hid among a huge dragon head, completely concealing her figure.

Sure enough, it wasn't long before footsteps could be heard. There were two people coming, and they didn't notice anything, chatting with each other.

"Eddard has already met one of the bastards. He also got that book. If he continues to investigate, the others won't be able to hide for long."

"If he finds out the truth, what will he do?"

"How would I know? But those fools planned to kill his son. The worst thing is, they messed it up."

"The truth is the most vulnerable to investigation. The direwolf and the lion will soon fight each other, and war is not far away."

"What's the use of starting a fight now? We're not ready yet. We'll only benefit others like last time. Since one Hand has already died, why can't a second die?"

"This is different. His death is likely to intensify the conflict and bring the war forward."

"But we need time. You know the nature of those barbarians. Drogo won't send troops until Daenerys's child is born."

………………

The two people walked further and further away, and their voices gradually became inaudible.

Arya crawled out. The way she came had been locked. She checked again. The door in the direction the two people left was also locked. Helpless, Arya could only go to the sewer. After groping in the dark, she finally came to a bay.

The surrounding area was full of poor people picking up garbage. Arya tore off a piece of rag and wrapped it around the short sword at her waist. Following these civilians, she returned to King's Landing. The slums were dirty and smelly, but she was about the same, having just crawled out of the sewer. Surprisingly, she didn't arouse the suspicion of the people around her. With her constant groping, she really managed to get back to the Red Keep.

But she was stopped by two gold cloaks. The little wolf girl was indeed a noble: "I'm not a beggar. I'm the daughter of the Hand, Arya of House Stark. If you dare to stop me, my father will cut off your heads and stick them on spears. Now, are you going to report or wait for me to slap you both?" She was imposing at a young age, and she really intimidated the two soldiers.
